Looking for a quick consolidated list of options to play today? Let’s take a look at our DraftKings and FanDuel Cheat Sheets to help navigate today’s slate!
Tuesday night gives us two potential elimination games as the Isles and Flyers get set for the 5th game of their series with New York up 3 games to 1, while Vancouver strives to last another day, down 3-1 to the juggernaut Golden Knights in the late game.
I’m expecting Vegas to lead the way by a pretty wide margin in terms of ownership levels with their top two lines being popular stacking options, along with Shea Theodore and Alec Martinez as popular options on the back-end. Third line winger, Alex Tuch will also be a chalk option as a value play, skating on the third line for Vegas and can be paired in a two man stack with Roy, who is a punt with upside at C and shouldn’t be too popular tonight in terms of ownership levels. Given the firepower that we’ve seen from Vegas in this series, they are a fade at your own risk type of play tonight as they have been amazing so far in the playoffs, with the sole exception being game 2 of this series. Vancouver’s big guns won’t be low owned (I think they’ll be more popular than Philly) – but they certainly will be dwarfed by ownership levels that we see on Vegas in this one. Vancouver’s top two lines and Edler on the back-end will be the way that many opt for exposure to the Canucks in this one, with again – a pretty spread out approach. In net, I expect Lehner to be between the pipes for Vegas in this one. He has two shutouts in this series and was given the night off in game 4 with the series playing back to back games. The Canucks will roll out Markstrom again, who while a risky proposition, will be relied upon to steal the game for Vancouver if they are to stay alive in this one – and he has the highest ceiling of all netminders on this slate…but faces the best offence and his team are massive dogs, so I would be careful with the percentage exposure you have on him for those playing MME formats.
As for the Isles/Flyers series, it features two defensive minded teams and is a game that will be much lower owned than the late contest. I continue to love NYI2 as my favourite stack in this series, and led by C Brock Nelson, they potted a couple goals in game 4’s win. Pageau teams up with this line on the top PP unit and is worth running some PP1 NYI stacks as well. The Isles top line will probably be lower owned than they should be. They have had a pretty quiet series overall and aren’t cheap – so the upside could be there if you opt to roll them out. Led by Barzal and Lee, there’s plenty of talent there. Pulock, Pelech, Mayfield (as a punt) and a little bit of Toews are worth sprinkling in as well. As for the Flyers, we’ve seen a little life from Couturier in the last couple of games – but against such a stout defensive team, I don’t think you have to go nuts here…in fact, you could make a case for a fade of Philly altogether. It’s a risky approach given the fact that they have their backs against the wall in this series – but could help narrow down your player pool. If you think Philly will have a big night, stacking combos of their top two lines and top PP unit for 25-30% is a way you could go significantly over-weight on them as I expect the ownership levels to be 10-15%. As for the netminders, they are both in play here in what should be a defensive game. I’m not expecting either to have a massive fantasy output – but the winner here will be in play for a GPP winning line-up as a potential part of the winning roster, with my preference between the two being Varlamov for the Isles as I think they’ll get the job done tonight.
